What is...  Oasis

The name of our youth ministry was originally thought of by one of our own students Cody Larkin. In it’s original form the name was to stand for “Offering a Savior in Service”, the question that can be applied is “How do we best show people the love of God?’ Answer: by serving each other and meeting needs, Jesus even said “He came to serve not to be served” by doing this He demonstrated God’s love to and for people. As a youth ministry we want to demonstrate the same attitude as Jesus did, teenagers who share the love of God through the way we take care of each other and how we meet the needs of our community, friends and family.
In addition as you look at the synonyms for this word “Oasis” you’ll find words like: retreat, refuge, haven and sanctuary, all words that we want to be descriptive of this ministry. As you come out on a Monday night we hope you find out what it means to live in “God’s Oasis”. Isaiah 43: 18-19 says “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not percieve it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” God wants to make an Oasis in your life, are you willing for God to change you? Then come on out on Monday’s and experience the changing power of His love in your life!

First the night begins with some refreshments starting at 7pm along with some light fellowship activities anything from frisbee to football to basketball, etc. From there we move inside for some group yth photoworship
games/competitions. When that finishes we then move into a time of worship lead  by our youth praise band. After worship follows a short message which speaks to relational issues that we have between God and us! And finally the night ends with a trip down to the Outback Steak House (please bring money for this).
